Goblin

Goblin Race Format

A Greenpower USA sanctioned Goblin event must have the following components:

  1. Presentation Component
  2. Drag Race
  3. Slalom Race
  4. Circuit/Lap Race

Race Event Descriptions

  • The Presentation Component will be completed prior to the race date. All teams will be given a rubric with the information on how to complete their presentation. Some forms of presentations include tri-fold boards, PowerPoint / Google Slide submissions, or live presentations. The total amount of possible points received for a presentation cannot exceed 100 points.
  • The Drag Race is approximately 120-feet in total length with a 10-foot section at the starting line to allow for a push start. After 10-feet, the pusher must not be in contact with the vehicle. The driver will then proceed in a straight line for the remaining 110 feet (approximately).
  • The Slalom Race is also approximately 120-feet in total length with a 10-foot section at the starting line to allow for a push start. After 10-feet, the pusher must not be in contact with the vehicle. The driver will then proceed to weave in and out of cones for the remaining 110 feet (approximately). The driver will start off by going to the left of the first cone, right of the second cone, and so on. The cones will be spaced out approximately 20-30 feet apart.
  • The Circuit Race is a lap race where each team will complete a pre-determined number of laps. This determination will be declared by the Event Organizers. Timing will be based on the Event Organizers guidelines.

Event Scoring

The total amount of possible points for a sanctioned Greenpower USA Goblin event cannot exceed 400 points - 100 points for the four components. For each race event (Drag, Slalom and Circuit), the team with the best time will receive 100 points, second place will receive 95 points, third place will receive 90 points, and so on. From 10th place on, each team will receive a total of 55 points. At the conclusion of all four components, each team's score from each area will be totaled giving a final Event Score.

Declaring a National Champion

The season Goblin National Champion will be declared by totaling the best three (3) event scores from the race season. The team with the highest season total (based of the best three event scores) will be declared the National Champion for the race season.
