Greenpower USA's journey began in 2014 when we embarked on a transformative partnership with the renowned international organization, Greenpower Education Trust. Originating in the United Kingdom in 1999, this organization hosts the prestigious Greenpower International Final each October, attracting young innovators from around the globe. It was at this international stage that the first American team, hailing from Huntsville Center for Technology in Huntsville, AL, made their mark. This historic moment laid the foundation for Greenpower USA's establishment, and in the spring of 2015, we hosted our inaugural race on American soil.
From humble beginnings, Greenpower USA has grown into a nationwide phenomenon, with hundreds of participating teams across the country. Each school year, we orchestrate over 25 major sanctioned racing events, drawing students in grades 4-12 into a world of STEM exploration. Our diverse categories ensure that students of all ages can participate, learn, and thrive in a positive, high-energy environment.
However, the real magic of Greenpower happens not on the racetrack, but in the classroom. Fueled by the spirit of competition and inspired by boundless imagination, Greenpower students engage with STEM concepts in innovative ways. They learn to apply critical employability skills like teamwork and project management, honing their abilities in a supportive and nurturing setting.

Our programs are designed to ignite curiosity and passion for STEM among students. Whether they are participating in the Formula Goblin program for grades 4-6 or the Formula 24 program for grades 6-12, they delve into a comprehensive curriculum that covers a spectrum of vital subjects.
Formula Goblin | Curriculum encompasses topics such as force and motion, engineering processes, electric circuitry, introductory mechanics, schematic reading, tool safety, and green energy. This comprehensive education forms the foundation of their journey.
Formula 24 | Learning experience extends to force and motion, mechanical advantage, aerodynamics, energy efficiency, sustainability, data analysis, and advanced manufacturing. This advanced curriculum equips students with a deep understanding of complex STEM concepts.
Our students put their knowledge and skills from the classroom to the test in thrilling racing events.
Formula Goblin | Young racers take on challenges like the 120 ft drag race, 120 ft slalom race, and a 3-lap circuit race. While racing, they not only learn the basics of driving but also gain insights into navigating mechanical and electrical problems, laying the foundations of STEM principles that are crucial for their future.
Formula 24 | The challenges become even more demanding, as they engage in a 90-minute endurance race with 2 driver changes and pit stops. This level of competition requires them to apply advanced troubleshooting skills, adapt their driving strategies, and implement complex STEM principles in real-time, mirroring the complexities of the professional world.
These experiences in the classroom and on the track provide students with a unique blend of content knowledge and employability skills, including problem-solving, leadership, effective presentation, social media management, fundraising, marketing, project management, and professional communication. Through our programs, students not only gain academic proficiency but also cultivate the skills necessary to excel in the modern workforce.
